Kretinga_palaceKretinga is another town in Klaipėda County and a capital of the Kretinga district municipality. It is located 12 km east of the Baltic Sea resort town of Palanga, and about 25 km north of Klaipėda. The Kretinga region includes four hospitals, 33 schools, 1 special boarding school, an art and music school, 2 agricultural colleges, a high school, a public library with branches all over the region, 11 Catholic churches and one Lutheran church. There are 2 local newspapers.

Kretinga is one of the oldest cities in Lithuania and is famous for it’s Franciscan monastery (founded in 1602), churches, Winter garden and ancient cemeteries. Kretinga is quite related with religion as monastery and its active cultural and religious activity involve local people and visitors, mostly during the summer season. Kretinga is crossed by Akmena river and some beautiful locations can be found at the banks of the river. The old watermill and former palace with Winter garden museum can be noteworthy filming locations, when something really specific is needed.
