Arriving in Klaipėda


Palanga international Airport (PLQ) is the closest to Klaipėda, which is only  32 km north of the Klaipėda on the main A13 (E272) highway. All year round the airport provides regular flights to Copenhagen (SAS), Oslo (Norwegian airlines), Riga (airBaltic), London Luton (Wizzair) and London Stansted (Ryanair).  Additional routes to Moscow (Rusline), Minsk (Belavia), Glasgow (Ryanair), Saint Petersburg (Rusline), Warsaw (LOT), Kiev (Ukraine International) operate during the summer season. 

It takes around 45 minutes to drive from Palanga airport to Klaipėda city center. Two more international airports in Lithuania – Kaunas (KUN) and Vilnius (VNO) provide regular flights to all main European cities. To reach Klaipėda it takes around 3,5 hours to drive from Vilnius and 2,5  hours from Kaunas.

One more – Riga (Latvia) international airport (RIX) is located within 230 km away from Klaipėda, which can easily be reached by local airport shuttle service buses, regular buses, or direct flights from Palanga airport.


Long-distance buses arrive in Klaipėda from Kaliningrad, Riga and most major Lithuanian towns and cities. European bus company ”Ecolines” also provides connections to main cities in Europe. 


Ferries arrive in Klaipėda from Kiel and Sassnitz in Germany and Karlshamn in Sweden. The International Ferry Terminal is located about 12km south of the city centre. 


Trains operate in Klaipėda each day from/to Šiauliai, Šilutė and Vilnius. It takes 4 – 4,5 hours to  go from Vilnius to Klaipėda by train and prices vary from 12 to 20 euros. 


Klaipėda  and Vilnius is connected by 311km highway. You can reach to Riga (Latvia) via the A13 (E272) that is located by the coast before crossing the border and becoming the A11.
